1st, I want to express myThanks, Big Time to all that have posted here. Both noobs like me for asking many of the questions I had. As well as you old hands for answering the questions and reviewing different items. Some of which I did not even know existed...

I had been considering going to a straight blade for a long while.
Because no mater the multi-blade(s), mach3, quatro, and different canned goops, yada, yada, yada... For the last year, my face kept getting in grown's and bumps. Not severe but aggravating none the less. I would go through a cycle of letting it grow out a bit and keeping knocked down with the cheap electric. (think, Miami Vise)

Then try shaving it off again, only to start over in few weeks at most.

That or shaving just before getting out of the shower. Seems my face was trying to tell me something there...
But I was a bit slow on the uptake...

I had recently let it grow out almost full, took me almost a month...
I guess my whiskers are almost as slow as my cell....

So in the mean time, being undecided, I started out on a search for some beard softener and wound up here... thank heaven for small favors...
Cannot believe I forgot about safety razors... used to watch Granddad use his...

Well after snooping around here for about a week, reading, hopefully learning... Plus some vids on youtube...

I picked up a cheap boar brush and soap at "wally world" to use with the mach3 as a trial.

Well, I loved it and will not be canned again if at all possible!!!

So now that a worked myself into a Lather!!!
I pulled the trigger on a - Merkur Progress Long Handle Adjustable Safety Razor - on sale for $55 and Derby blades to try from:

Should be here by the end of next week. Giving me time to practice lathering and working on some of the other skills mentioned here.

Wanted something with a SissY setting for my baby face...

There is a L'Occitane here in town I plan to re-vist this weekend hopefully, for a better soap or cream, er both.

Thanks again all,
