Went to go see Miracle on 34th Street at the Stanford Theater in Palo Alto with my fiancee. Took the train from San Fran to catch it on the Wednesday before Christmas. Great movie in a beautifully restored theater. Guy has an amazing collection of vintage movie posters to drool over as well (I'm talking 100s of thousands of dollars worth).

+1 on that. One the best vampire films I've seen!

A couple days ago I saw the world premiere of Oh My Buddah! (sic.?). I'm not sure what the original Japanese title was. Sorry there's not much web reference for it (so new I guess). A funny coming of age movie set in 1974 about some young boys from an all boys Buddhist school in Kyoto trying to get laid over a vacation by going to a youth hostel for "free sex"! Thumbs up. I don't think I was that goofy when I was 14-15 years old.

Avatar! Although the storyline has been told a million different times in other films, Avatar was spectacular nonetheless...Cameron really got his money's worth on the special effects.

A couple of nights ago we watched "Coraline". Tim Burton is a genious. What an imagination. If I had half the imagination as Tim Burton, I probably would have been able to date more girls when I was younger.

Started watching "Bruno" last night. It was so incredible bad, we turned it off after ten minutes. How can anyone send something like this to the public?

Candleshoe - a cute Disney Classic with Jodie Foster.
Kill Bill 1 & 2 - rewatched them last night and still find them awesome viewing.

"Up in the Air" felt a bit like a Southwest Airlines flight to me... I have to have orange juice in a flimsy plastic cup instead of the Bloody Mary mix I'd prefer. This film fell a little flat for me and actually was quite predictible. The brightest spot for me was the short performance of Chicago actress Amy Morton who portrays Clooney's (elder?) sister in the movie. Her interaction with him on a brief telephone call and later prior to a younger sister's wedding was superb in her toneality and body language. She is primarily a stage actress I saw from reports online. Her character was somewhat raw and real.

I watched Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakle last night with the family... good funny family film. Not great, just good. Very predictable, not the best acting from the real life stars, but the animated singing hamsters were fantastic.

The last movie I saw in the theatres was Avatar. It was visually stunning and quite engrossing. Though it seems very much like Dances With Wolves in space, it presents a story that is unique in itself. The acting was great too. The final battle scene was absolutely stellar, possibly better than Return of the King.

Everyone must see this movie, especially if you like sci-fi or James Cameron.
