Does preshave oil affect how long a blade lasts?

I've noticed that the preshave oil I use tends to coat my blade and leaves a film in the sink. I haven't tried shaving without it yet, but I suspect it might be a factor in why my blades only last two shaves before becoming dull and unsatisfactory (Shark blades).

Anyone else have this issue?

Oil might actually keep water off of the blade and make it last longer. Try skipping the oil and see what happens.
