Unhappy Bowling Green - Thumbs down from both of us

I wanted to really like Bowling Green and eagerly looked forward to trying it, but now that I have it on I recognize it as a scent that I couldn't be around from the 1980's.

It smells good, but gives me hot flashes and a dull headache. My wife initially gave it tepid approval, then said it had a soapy dry down that she didn't care for. Basenotes provides the following:
    Top Notes
    Bergamot, Lemon, Basil, Juniper
    Middle Notes
Lavender, Cardamom, Pine, Jasmin, Cinnamon, Artemisia
    Base Notes
Patchouli, Moss, Cedar, Amber, Sandal, Fir
Wish I knew what it is that I'm reacting to, but I can't wear it.

That's a shame, as, IMO, it's one of the nicer citrus scents with some staying power.

I hadn't worn it in years but was glad to see that there were places to still buy it. I recently bought the AS splash and cologne, both 100ml bottles, for $25 + S&H.

I'd take it off your hands if I didn't already have too much stuff to work through (yeah, it's "work," all right ).

That is too bad, as I agree with Bob - BG is one of my favorite spring/summer scents. A classic case of YMMV all over again.

...And newbies STILL insist on asking "What's the best (or most female attractive) AS/cologne/soap/cream/razor/blade?" The good news: if there was only ONE truly best setup, we'd all have nothing to talk about!

Mitch, at least you & SWMBO have found a scent or two that works for both of you. Keep the faith!

Oh, yeah! Gotta a couple keepers already, just need to finish testing the other bottles and samples I picked up.

You might want to try the AS, which to my nose is a much more civilized and better-smelling juice than the cologne. However, it is likely you will have the same sort of physical reaction.
