Questions About Replating A FatBoy

I have my Dad's '58 FatBoy that is showing it's age (lots of brassing on the head). I would like to get it replated. It is my understanding that these razors were plated already assembled, is this correct? Also, what about the red clicker thingy, will the plating stick to that? Apparently not, if they were plated already assembled. I plan to disassemble the razor for cleaning per these instructions, http://vintagesaws.com/fatboy/fatboy.html would it be better to just get the parts plated while it is apart?

Any info is much appreciated, thanks.

They were plated assembled.
Plating it while dis-assembled may have some impact on your ability to re-assemble, based on fit of parts.

If it was mine, I'd just leave it as is. If you want a nice one, you can buy one for the looks, and that way, your dads razor will be in original shape.

If that is not important, then buy a fatboy that has a beat up handle but good doors, and just replace the doors.
