Hello all I have a question that I hope I can get answered. Have any of you ever used a lanksy sharping system or one like it to sharpen your razors? Their site says that it will work for razors though Im not quite sure.

17 degrees is the setting for the guide rod.

I have the lansky diamond and it is totally unsuitable for a razor and considering the way the system works with the blade held fixed and the stone worked against the blade I think you would be courting disaster with a straight.

For razors the spine acts as the guide; lay it flat on the hone to sharpen. The 17 degree slot on the lansky is the angle for one side of the blade, but razors have roughly 17 degrees *total* angle; which is about 8-9 degrees for each side.
