  1. Default IngenuiTEA brewer- Anyone used one?

A local coffee shop uses these to brew loose leaf tea:

Has anyone used one? I think they're pretty neat, and brew up a really nice cup. I'm just getting into loose leaf, and am considering getting one.

I think the mechanism is essentially the same as this device:

The difference being that instead of being an all in one unit this emties into your drinking vessel. That said, this should work just fine for gung fu brewing if that is what you wish. And for regular brewing, looks good too. I like it for gung fu in that the tea empties rapidly, so that you can regulate exact brewing time.

Nice but can you shave with it?

I've been using it for awhile and like it very much. Be careful, because it will dump the tea quite rapidly and if you put in too much water, overflows will result. Easy enough to to remedy with proper measurement and experience. I got mine at Harris Teeter (a grocery chain here on the East coast).

I have had the adagio going on 4 yrs. Good system, though after about 2 months of use, the ring holding the straining screen came loose. So whenever hot water is poured in, the entire mechanism floats to the top, sending tea leaves throughout the system and clogging the valve. Just pour in slowly and it is fine...

Thats one reason I like the Teavana infuser better. This issue doesn't happen with it.

That's really good to know. I'll have to comparison shop, but Teavana's web site seems to be down at the moment.

This device is the core of my office gongfucha.
Without it I'd still be drinking...coffee.

Likewise, I use this for brewing tea at the office, works like a charm.

I have been using an IngenuiTEA at the office for almost a year now. I put close to 2 liters through it daily. Works great. I think you lose the subtle evolution of flavors in subsequent steeps compared to a Yixing pot. Still, for me, this is great method for work. It is impossible for me to devote the time and space to a Yixing set up.

These are very handy - the only thing I don't like is that they are plastic and while I'm all for technology, I prefer using glass or ceramic brewing equipment.

My preference for the office is one of those inexpensive 3-part glass cups that consist of the cup, glass basket filter and a lid that doubles as a saucer for the basket between brews. Mine is a little more nicely shaped, but here's a pic of the sort of thing I'm talking about.
