I came home today to something that I found hilarious, and figured that I would share it with you all, since it may be appreciated.
When I got home, my wife of 5 years greeted me at the door, all smiles, with the warning that I would be in trouble if I touched the blueberry pie she had made this morning for thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. Well I just had to see this, since she has never made a pie before and I wanted to check it out. So out of the fridge comes the pie, and I take a look. I notice that the crust looks kinda strange, and is very VERY brittle. So I break off a little piece and take a nibble. What I receive, instead of delicious moist pie crust is hard, dry, and probably the saltiest thing I have ever tasted.
After a few moments of exclamation and wonderment over what exactly was going on, I asked if she had put salt in the filling instead of sugar and she said no, the only salt in the pie was the 3/4 of a cup she had put in the crust dough. Well, my mouth dropped....3/4 of a CUP? Yes, she had indeed put in 3/4 of a cup, and was adamant that the recipe had called for it, so I open the cookbook, and show her the entry stating 3/4 of a teaspoon and she just about fainted. I died laughing.
All is however well, the pie went in the trash and she is in the process of making another one with the correct amount of salt. Thank God I was to curious enough to not leave this one alone or that could have been very embarrassing when we went to serve my our homemade blueberry pie tomorrow!
