Default Another new guy from Texas

    Hello All,

I've been reading this forum everyday since I discovered it in early December. I have learned an awful lot through other's experiences. There's a world of information here, and it gave me confidence to go ahead and try the wet shaving experience.

I've got five wetshaves behind me, and all I can say is this is definitely worth the learning curve. I have been shaving for over 25 years, but have never been able to receive as close a shave as this until now. I have always been plagued with ingrown hairs with fairly thick growth on the neck and jawline, so I could never even dream of going ATG with a "lift & pull" multi-blade cartridge.

The DE (with the right techniques) just works better for my beard. I did experience wicked razor burn after the first shave, but after doing my homework here and allowing two days to heal, subsequent shaves have improved with each and every one. I even did ATG on Saturday and I just couldn't keep from touching my face throughout the day...

Many thanks to all that have asked the questions, no matter how small, and to all that have responded with their advise.
    -Tom

Greetings from Houston, Tom. I have been shaving with a DE now for just over two weeks and I am getting consistantly now the best shaves I have ever had. Just a matter of practice and a little technique.

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

texasPI: I'm located just north of Dallas

Mama Bear: I have used two of your soaps so far, and I like them! The Rosemary Mint is quite invigorating, which is great for morning shaves (especially after the cold rinse!). I have found the Turkish Mocha to be sort of a "comfort" scent which is quite nice for the evening shaves. With John's recent advise, I am not stingy with the soap at all.

Mantic: Thanks for the videos! If I hadn't seen you perform the short strokes and sideways swipes on the neck I don't think I would have ever "got" this wetshaving thing!

Fergie: Admit it: hanging around with this crowd, all the guys eventually become "faceturbaters". When I first started shaving my head a couple years back I guess I went through a short period of "scalpturbation" until I learned self-control.
