Thread: Injector Razors

    Default Injector Razors

    Hello,

I am curious about Injector razors and wanted to buy possibly a brand new one but not sure what might be better or where to even look. I am guessing the bay is a good start. But does anyone have a recommendation for an injector? Or should I just make it easier for myself and get a double edge handle? The reason I want one is to try something new. I want to play with a single blade shaver that is some what aggressive.

If you want an aggressive SE, get a micromatic. I don't believe Injectors are being made anymore, but they can be had for a song on eBay.

I'm confused, you want to try either an injector, a DE, an open comb razor, or a slant? I see you say you're wanting to try something new, what are you using now?

Yes I want something new indeed, I just don't want to buy a used shave handle it kind of grosses me out and don't want to get something used if I don't have to. What I use is in my sig I go for Atra/ Trac II and Sensors for now.

You can buy an excellent Schick Injector on the Buy Sell Trade forum for a lot cheaper than a vintage Gillette DE. They shave well, the blades are available, though more expensive than DE blades.

If a sterilized, perfectly safe and well built old razor won't do, your going to have to look at getting a Merkur or a Muehle. The Weishi and Parkers are not constructed well, and some report having issues with them, though I have a Parker that has served me well in the past.
The newer Injectors are reported to have had some quality control issues, so if you get one, be prepared for that possibility.

The Schicks with the plastic and bakelite handles are more aggressive.

No you cannot. I always thought your sig was a joke, excuse me

luvmysuper is right, you can buy a used razor and sanitize it with barbicide or marvicide and they will be 100% safe to use, but if you insist on a new, unused razor, your best options are either Merkur or Muhle.

edit: I take that back, you can probably find any old razor in unused condition, they are called NOS (new old stock) and were never sold to a consumer. Generally they were left over when a business closed, or were a gift that never saw use, or something similar. The problem is, NOS razors are usually prohibitively expensive for anyone other than a collector.

Have you considered a "Feather Portable"? It is a brand new DE razor, slightly more aggressive than the Gillette Tech it is modeled after, and like the Tech, well built, and built to last.

It's is roughly the same size as a Gillette Ball End Tech, and even comes with a sweet travel case.

You can buy it from "pauldog" for less than $10 shipped.

See here: Feather Portable from Pauldog

Interesting and very nice razors. But you can't get them new.

Funnily enough a lot of these razors are cropping up on e bay uk and not selling, i bought 2, complete with case, blades, outer box in great condition and both were £1.99 with me as the only bidder, still a few on there now, i suppose that either they were not well known over here or not popular!

You have two options for to buy a new injector it amazes me that the companies still make the blades for these but do not make the handles. You can go on ebay & wait for a new shick to come along for various prices or you can spend $125 at classicshaving.com & get an all metal cobra classic which is made buy the their company.

The Cobra Classic uses only special blades manufactured by Feather. It can not use a typical Schick Injector blade. Also, it is considered to be madly aggressive; it is not a mild razor like the Injectors of old.

Yeah I don't want to rip my face off. I was looking into a decent double edge as of late, just haven't figured out what I want.. I was thinking a 1904 open comb....any suggestions?

You're kidding right? Suggestions for a razor to buy?

    On B&B?

    Never.
Q: If you call a tail a leg, how many legs does a dog have?

A: Four: a tail is not a leg no matter what you call it.

You can sometimes find late model Injectors still in the blister packaging, but folks tend to charge more than their worth, IMO.

And I thought there was a ton of brushes...sheesh I went to the review section and was completely over whelmed!

I am not even looking for injectors anymore , seems they are far and few anyway.

Case in point. For much less than this, I got both a used G8 and an L1 last month. Haven't used them yet, but have given them a thorough cleaning and disinfection, and will get to them in due course.
