edit: would consider trades for shave ready 5/8 - 6/8 hollow square points from DD, Boker or Case. I am interested in trying out a Red Imp 101. PM me what you have and let's see if we can't work out a trade.
Just got this back from ambrose today. I was hoping to give wedges another try but I don't like the weight. This is an early 1800s razor, tang is stamped with the maker's mark with three french crowns, straight scales, 7/8, heavy wedge. Originally, the show side was scaled with bone and the rear was ivory. Since the scales are straight, I had ambrose swap the two. Note that there is a hairline crack at the bottom pin.
Why one bone and one ivory? Presently, the hypothesis is that the scales were originally ivory, then one broke after the ban and was replaced with bone.
I tried one pass with her and she is smooooooth - but I cannot get used to the weight of a wedge.
Since it is fresh from USPS, there is no need to take new photos. Here are the ones taken by ambrose two days ago.
She's shiny, honed and ready to perform in your more skillful hands.
$85 shipped CONUS.
