Replating a razor?

I had what an idea about what to give some family members for Christmas. I was thinking about buying a few cheap fat boys or slims, cleaning them up really well and if necessary, having them replated to look new. I am unsure about the cost of this undertaking and I am sure it lowers the monetary value and, to some experienced and/or "zen-shavers," lowers the historical value of the razor. Please offer your thoughts about this such as is this worth doing and how much it might cost. Also, does anyone know where I can get a razor replated? I would really appreciate the input and suggestions. Thank you.

Buddydog, a Member here a (in the US too) is a Jeweler who also collects razors. He does replating, though I'm not certain if he uses all metals (I've read of him using gold and I think silver, might do them all).

I think there are others here too, but the end result, I think it may be less investment just to find a reasonably nice example and clean it up.
