Question Edwin Jagger Sea Buckthorn or Aloe Vera?

Which of these two soaps would you choose and why? I have tried the Aloe only once but was put off by a badly-smelling brush that I used to lather it.

I have cream samples of both and to be honest both seem great - the Sea Buckthorn smells very good, as does the Aloe but the latter had the addition of being perfect for sensitive skin.

I voted for Sea Buckthorn, only becaused "both" isn't an option. I have sensitive skin, too, and both are good for me, but the scent of the Sea Buckthorn is really nice, sort of a slightly sweet sea breeze smell.

I didn't vote because I haven't tried the Aloe. I had this same question though. I like the SB but it smells a little like mangos and I'm not entirely sure about it. Just bought a puck from the english shaving company hoping that the soap will be a little lighter on the scent. My guess is that you wouldn't go wrong with either.

After posting yesterday, I decided to try the Sea Buckthorn again this morning. I have to change my response.

First, I'll explain that I've been going back through all the many soaps and creams I've accumulated to pinpoint which ones cause irritation due to sensitivity. I'm carefully changing only one thing at a time, now. I went through AS splashes and balms first, and am now going through the soaps and creams. When I get done, I'll send the offenders off through BST.

I hadn't gotten to the Sea Buckthorn yet, and this morning I did the usual (for me) superlather with Sea Buckthorn and Pre de Provence soap, and it did make my face red and gave a slight burn that has lasted a few hours. I've used the Pre de Provence with other creams and didn't have a problem. Just to be sure, I'll wait a few days and try the Sea Buckthorn alone to make sure that it is the problem.

    Sensitivity is such a pain!

Some good responses here - thanks everyone.

SB being described as mangos is a good one - I noticed that too with the cream!

jakespoppy - been there, done that! I sympathise with you on the sensitivity.

I voted Sea Buckthorn as well. Nice lather and a laid back, easy scent that won't knock you over but is quite pleasant. Randy, I super lathered with SB and Cade - excellent!

    Hi,

I'm new to wetshaving using those old style double edge razors. Up to last week I have used a multiblade plastic vibrator from one of the larger brands but decided to try something new (new to me i.e.). This is my first post here by the way.

I ordered my first DE last week, along with the EJ aloe soap and some other nice things. I get the feeling that the EJ soaps aren't that popular here at B&B, is that true? Anyways, I guess my vote is for the aloe, since that's the one I ordered :)

Sea Buckthorn for me. One of the best scents around.
