Default Longevity of a new brush, the B&B brush in particular?

This may seem a little out in left field, but I would like to get some opinions on how long a brush might last sitting unused and the reprecussions of using say a 20 year old NOS brush. I have seen some NOS brushes bought and sold here, as well as a plethora of vintage brushes. slcsteve, in particular, seems to have some experience in this area based on what I have seen posted.

My son was born in 2006 and I am considering purchasing a B&B brush to present to him when he is a. old enough to shave and b. old enough to appreciate it. This may be 15, or this may be 24. Alternatively, I may purchase one for myself and hand it down. Just doing some pondering and planning before the order links go live.

That would be just great! If you store in in a dry dark place it will last decades without a problem. Most certainly for 16-17 years!

    What a great Dad.

How well do you think the B&B brush will perform if I don't use it for, oh say, 5 seconds after I get it.

take a look at the post where the B&B brush was put through it's paces-errr, discombobulated, trampled, driven on,etc, etc. if you are going to store it in its original package in a dry, dark place it should be fine.

BTW, I have some dry, dark places where I live!
