Locating a lost Circuit City sales receipt

Hello B&B'ers. I was wondering if I can get your help on this issue. I have an XM radio that has broken. I called XM and it is under warranty, however they told me to call Pioneer. I called Pioneer and they said sure we will replace it, BUT they want a faxed copy of the origional sales receipt. I have looked and looked in my lock box and do not see it. The item was purchased when Circuit City was going out of business for something like 80% off retail. How can I obtain a copy of that receipt? Would there be a company that aquired their records which I could access? I am open to advice and suggestions. I love my XM radio and want it working again.

Send them a copy of your credit card statement that includes the line item of the purchase? Dunno what else to offer up as a solution unfortunately...

That is an idea, I can look back over my bank account and see where the purchase was made. I will let you know.

Here is my update...looks like I am out of luck. :( I called Pioneer and because I can not obtain a receipt and they will not take a bank statement because I can not prove that I bought the XM unit....looks like I am out of luck. They will sell me a refurb for $50 however. :( Oh well, what else can you do. Thanks for the help.

Whatever works...just sayin'!

OP, sorry for your predicament. :frown:

Thank you all for the help. I am bummed about not having my radio replaced because there is no reciept, but oh well not much I can do about it. I enjoy XM and the chatter free music. :) Pioneer nor XM will do anything about it and from doing some looking around there are several people who own the model that I have...that are having the exact same issues with them. I have no "proof" that I bought it so there is nothing more I can do. Thank you all for the help. :) This is a great forum.

Check with Systemex or something like that. They purchased CC and liquidated the assets if I recall. Good luck

I may have missed it above, but did you pay for it using a Circut City credit card or a seperate one?

If I remember correctly from my days in retail, if the card was from a different issuer you should be able to contact them for a copy of the original receipt which would probably even include your signature line. I remember getting them in the past in regards to verifying purchases.

Just a thought.
