recommend a garment rack

Guys I live in the NYC. I have very little closet space, but excellent storage space in my basement. I want to put up jackets, tuxedos, and some other clothes that I do not wear on a regular basis in the storage space.

It collapsed with the weight.

Any recommendations? I dont want to spend massive amounts of money either.

How much weight are you talking about? There are a number of "commercial" grade ones on amazon. Back in college I lived in an apartment without a closet and built one myself out of 2x4s. It was sturdy and cheap, but not pretty.

I'd say about 8 to 9 suits, maybe 2 winter wool jackets, 3 leather jackets.

Also a few of my wives garments as well that are in bags.

Thats like 50 pounds max? Maybe 60... that sound right? Wish I could make my own. No space to do that.

Perhaps you can put hooks on the wall and hang the clothes that way?

walmart sells a great, and strong, rack for like $50. i have owned 2 of them and thry both are still kicking after 2+ years.
