Default Perhaps the DE Influence is Widening?

If any of you are familiar with Uncrate, it is a pretty well known online buyers-guide for men, more predominantly towards younger men I'd imagine. I just noticed they're featuring a Merkur HD as one of their recent suggested products.

Coincidentally, Uncrate featured the Merkur Futur several months ago, which is what first put DE shaving back in my head from the time I spent watching my grandpa shave. I went from the Futur on Uncrate to Mantic on Youtube, and shortly after found my way here to B&B.

I'm not sure how many folks will take the same interest as me, but I suppose it's a good sign that people are beginning to take new interest in the old ways, and recognizing it for being a better shave!

Here's the link for anyone that is interested.

    Yep-read the article.

It's a very nice picture of the HD in all its shiny glory. But we know it can be had for cheaper than $49.

Yeah that's the only issue I really saw. It's a shame they didn't research better prices a little better, $50 may deter some people starting out.

Well I just tried bidding on a ton of things on eBay and was outbid almost instantly. People are selling these things because they heard it was worth about that much and people are buying for the same reason.

Well, I hope this does not cause unnecessary cost increases. There was that article on the fusion blades that showed an unbelievable mark up and I just hope it does not swing towards the DE side. This way, more people can continue to enjoy a great shave.

Not for us guys outside the USA - I had to pay $70AUD for mine. Or $100 if I bought from the only shaver shop in my town.

With shipping charges to Australia, it doesn't make that much sense buying from the US either.

I got my HD from shavingessentials. It was about $40AUD shipped 18 months or so ago. Despite the shipping cost, it is still cheaper to get things from America IMO. Oh and BTW, I bought a back up HD( I know I'm a sad individual) of Moman for $30AUD

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I doubt the blurb on the Uncrate site will have a lasting impact. We might see a slight fluctuation, but unless they start a full-blown campaign to make an HD the thing to use, it will probably blow over. Remember when everybody thought Injectors were the thing, and even used ones were going for hundreds on eBay? Remember when Corey Greenberg went on the Today show and sparked a worldwide shortage of shaving gear? These are historical footnotes today, and I'm guessing the Uncrate mention will be lucky even to be that much in another few weeks or so.

I'd be willing to bet they did their research and got something for the link to Grooming Lounge...

That that's probably a better bet, I know you get a different link entering a site from Uncrate, I'm sure they get some sort of commission. Still an awesome site though, I'd rather not admit how much junk on there I've bought.

Haha, it was Corey Greenberg's article that really gave me the final push into wetshaving! I do wish, however, that I'd found B&B first - there's way better info on here than Greenberg had to offer.
