Default Has anyone got parts of their set up they'll never change?

Since I discovered MWF I can honestly say I will never buy another type of soap or cream again. I work on a four week rotation so I will use my other stuff when I travel just to use them up then I'll get a suitable travel container for MWF after that. I'm still experimenting with razors/adjustable settings/blade types etc. But MWF and an alum block are going to be constant companions for me till the day I die. Has anyone else found something in their set up they will never change?

Never say never.....there are so many fine products out there that its impossible to try them all. I'll always have an alum block, but most of the other stuff is variable. I have some favs....sure, but am open to new stuff.

    Thumbs up

Proraso pre/post cream and Red IP blades. Razors, brushes & soaps may change but these two items are always used.

Where's the fun in limiting yourself to only one product? One of the perks of traditional wetshaving is being able to use various products depending on mood. And always using an Alum block isn't really the same as always using MWF soap. Besides, something might come along in the future that I will want to try. YMMV.

No, I don't. Just when I think I have my setup down, I seem to read about this razor, or that blade, or this cream, or aftershave splash or I try something that has sat unused because of a bad experience and before you know it my setup has changed...

One thing that looks like it may be the "final one" is my brush -- a Rooney 1/1 Super. If someone were to give me a 1/1 Finest I'd be willing to consider it but for the price difference I'll stick with the super.

Another winner is my GEM 1900/1901 Lather Catcher but that is just a backup for my straights, which are still battling it out for top honors. Long way to go on nailing down a winner in the straight razor category.

MWF has replaced Tabac as top of the my soap heap but Prairie Creations is putting up a good fight. Cella was a contender but my tub went rancid on me and scared me off. Might still give it another chance.

Not sure I have my number one strop yet.

As for post-shave, alum block and Witch Hazel seem to have taken over. No other replacements/additions in play.

As far as aftershave goes I'll always use D.R. Harris AS milk. For SC and soap I really like penhaligon's stuff but I'm not making any final decisions untill I try Tabac and MWF. As for blades I have about 85 derbys left so I don't think I'll be buying anything else on the blade side for awhile.

there're some items I will never get rid of, Like my military set, Aristocrat #19 24k, Rocket HD, my ABC pocket Editions, Personna and feather blades.
But that doesn't mean I won't buy anything (and maybe another of the mentioned razor) again.

I'm just starting and I know there're so many products out there to try.

I think is easier to find a product you don't like and never buying it again, than having a ton you do like and not buying anything else.

I'll always have a bottle of Old Spice original on hand as long as they continue to make the stuff. I never used to bother with aftershave much but since going DE have used it almost every day. It's the longest lasting stuff I've ever tried. Put it on at 6am and I can still smell it on my face when I go to bed. A really good cold weather scent.

How could you even consider the idea of depriving all of our loyal vendors and soapmakers of some of your business? After all, there are so many soaps out there, and so little time to enjoy them, and variety is the spice of life, you know...

I don't see myself straying from my Tech. The shaves are so consistent and comfortable, that I really don't want to change razors anymore.

Other than that, all bets are off. As long as it doesn't violate the Penny Pincher Pledge!

Aqua Velva will always be in my kit, but I will use other aftershaves now and again...

The only things I can say for sure that I'll always keep in my rotation are my red tip SuperSpeed and my New. I haven't settled permanently on anything else.

In the beginning I thought I would always use my Feather Popular razor and Proraso Green.

It just does not work that way I am afraid...

My face. I plan to always have my face. The whiskers on it may change, but it will always be there. When I've lost it, I'll give up shaving forever.

I'll always have some MWF, a DE, and probably an alum block. It doesn't mean MWF is the only soap I'll ever use but it is an item I will try to keep on hand. Same with the DE may not always be the same one, but there will always be at least one available.
