Which Super Adjustable is the Real "Black Beauty"?

I've seen the Black Beauty moniker applied with respect to a couple of the four different black handled super adjustables. Anyone know, or have a knowledgeable opinion whether the nickname applies any or all of them, or if a specific subtype, which one & why? I have borrowed the pic from another post but not sure who it belongs to .. my humble collection has only 3 of them .. anyone have a reasonable gold version they want to offload?

I'm probably wrong, but I believe Black Beauty refers to the long handled late seventies version with the black plastic base plate. I'm sure one of the members know the answer.

I´m not sure, but I believe "black beauty" is the not official name for the short handle black Adjustable. The long handle was called "Super-Adjustable"

I read somewhere that the short handle was called the Black Beauty, but I cannot find that thread right now.


For the record, the later long handled with the plastic base, in terms of shave quality compared to the other supers should be called the turd...it's still better than the majority of razors out there, but compared to the other supers it's not as good, IMHO

I thought it was just the long handled version, then someone told me it was the long handled gold plated version which I think is a bit too Elvis to be called a beauty.

Id like to know the definitive answer.

I don't think that "Black beauty" is an official name of any kind, so I doubt the question has a real answer.

As I understand it, "Black Beauty" is the nickname for the one with the black plastic baseplate.

I always thought the black beauty was the long handled version with the metal base plate (nickel). Odd!
