    Default M3 revisited

I decided to go back to the M3 yesterday just to see what I would think about it after almost 2 months of DE shaving. I just the same prep and face lathered with a brush as usual. I took a brand new cartridge which I normally remember being amazed at how sharp they were.

I did a 2 x WTG and 1 x XTG and ended up with a shave that was as smooth as I get with the DE. However it was very clear that the M3 was really pulling on my beard. It was really weird to feel this as I've never thought about it before. In other words, not a very comfortable shave, with a decent result and some minor irritations.

I'll just stick to DE for a while more

Isn't it surprising how you become so aware of the pulling of those cartridge blades after going to DE shaving for a while?

YES! I never noticed the pulling when I used my Fusion, but when I tried it out the other day, I wondered how I was able to stand that.

They pull by design; if the first blade actually cut the hair, the successive blades would do absolutely nothing. Funny.

Most M3 revisited threads are people having good shaves from them, either ultimately finding out a cartridge is just as good as a DE for them, or finding out a week later that the 'long-term' negative effects of a cartridge have returned. Interesting to see this take on it.

My technique has improved since switching over to single-blade shaving -- it's had to. With me, mega-multi's like the Mach 3 and above led to sloppiness, undue speed, and irritation. Now I can get by with a twin-blade razor, and single blades are even better. You discover limits as you go along, and two is mine.

I agree, and I'll add that the fixed head design has helped me significantly. The pressure required to make the pivot head work is bad for my face. Thus, Bic Sensitive or Trac II are good for me.

Yes! And i didn't even try DE shaving because I had very much problems with the cartridge razor. I mainly thought it would be fun to try something new. Not too much of a chance at me going back now
