KMF cream slimy

I've never tried KMF creams before, so I don't know if they are always like this, but my KMF cream seems kinda "slimy" (for lack of a better term). As I am working it into a lather I can see elongated strings of slime following my brush. (It's hard to describe. If anybody has spent any time in Japan it's kind of like the stringy stuff that hangs off of natto as you pull it out of the container.)

I also find this cream very hard to rinse off; it seems like I almost have to use soap to get it off.

Has anybody else noticed either of these phenomena with KMF creams?

KMF is also designed to be used brushless. Creams that are like that IME tend to be a little slimier to provide adequate lubrication sans lather. Once I get the lather going I have no problems with sliminess or rinsing, though. Is your lather properly whipped?

Sounds like you are using too much. A little bit goes a long way.

always thought it looked like pump hand soap. i dont know ymmv but for the price and performance if it was all i could get my hands on...i could live with it.

+1. Just use less and work it for longer than you usually do with other creams.

You may need a tad more water. It's also possible that the cream has separated somewhat in the tube or bottle. Try giving it a good shake before dispensing.

I assume you're talking about Kiss My Face Moisture Shave. I use this cream from a pump bottle. I started by applying three pumps. As I learned to make better lather, two pumps were sufficient. Now I use just one pump. The lather is not as luxurious, perhaps, as The Real Shaving Co. shaving cream, but what it lacks in fluff it makes up for in lubrication. I didn't notice a stringy quality, but I do need a little extra rinsing afterward. I see this as a positive attribute.

More water for sure. I was surprised at how much water this cream can take.

Just like everyone else, the first thing that comes to mind is to use less product and more water. It's possible the hardness/softness of your water is messing with stuff in the product, but it is unlikely.

Yes, I get the stringy/slimy thing going on, but that seems to happen with most of the brushless creams I've used, not just KMF. Adjusting the water-to-cream ratio clears that up. The only cream that doesn't exhibit this is John Allan's, which I still prefer for brushless.

Ironically I had trouble with this cream over the weekend. After applying a decent lather, the bubbles simply disintegrated, leaving my face almost bare. Some experimentation with a different brush helped only a bit. I eventually concluded that one squirt was not enough for a good lather. But a squirt and a half, with adequate water, did a fine job this morning. So I bought some more today. :-)
