    Default PJ2 Super...Is this right?

I just received my PJ2 Super in the mail today and the cut of the bristles look very off to me. I haven't been able to find any pics of the brush prebloom. So I took my own and I hoped you could let me know if the brush is supposed to look like this. Is this normal?

    Thanks all.

PS I took the pix with my camera phone, so they are not the best quality, I apologize.

As you can see from the pictures the brush almost has a lightbulb shape with this little ring or notch below the rounded head. It looks very strange to me.

I've never seen a PJ that looked like that. It looks more like a Shavemac. DrP, where are you?

That's what I thought, too. I don't know if you can see it from my crappy pics but there is also a flat topped circle that encompasses the "lightbulb".

    Tim,

That is obvious from the pics. Where did you get the brush? I'd contact your vendor about this.

I got it from Lee. I haven't used it or anything. I'm actually sending him a PM as we speak.

Shape is odd. Performance should be the same I think.

    Tim,

Without that outer "band", I think it would be a great looking brush. But with it, it looks like a bad haircut. Check with Lee and let us know what he says. Both of my Simpsons came from Lee. Be sure to include your pics in the email.

Looks like a monks shaving brush... Good luck with the vendor though!

    Tim,

This just isn't right; never ever saw such a strange shaped loft; light bulb shape is okay, but not the strange band/ring.
What on earth is wrong at Simpsons place.....???

I would return the brush to Lee for a good one; Lee must be developing a severe headache from all the problems with Simpsons brushes the past months i think...

Thanks, Peter and all for chiming in on this topic. The more I look at this "Friar Tuck" brush, the more I do believe that something is definately wrong with it and I have decided to return it.

Perhaps this forum brought a lot of new customers to Simpsons and they can’t adjust their rate of production. Something’s definitely wrong with Simpsons.

I have a PJ1 and it does not look like that. Good thing you got it from Lee, I have found him a great guy to work with.

Something is funny in Simpson land. For followers of this forum it is amazing how they have fallen over the past year.

I have a 10+YO PJ2 and a 2YO PJ3, they are both "flattops" in the English tradition. Your recent PJ definitely looks more European. I recently bought a T2 that my wife is giving me for Christmas, from my quick inspection it also looked distinctly lightbulb but I thought that must be the T2 style. Maybe Simspons have to meet some new EU regulation about brush shape or maybe they have completely lost control of their quality assurance process. At least your PJ has a decent shaped handle - not the bloated jobs that have been showing up sometimes recently.

As a fly tyer who's worked with hair on a smaller scale over the years, it looks to me like the hair in the center of the knot slipped away before the knot was bound tightly.

I don't know...It's a unique, one of a kind brush. Probably worth more than a "normal" one. You know, like errors on baseball cards that make the card worth thousands!

    Yes, I'm joking.

    Default Looks a bit wierd

Looks like someone just shaved and extra bit off the top. I would request a new product.

After all these complains about simpson brushes I am less and less inclined to ever own one.

That doesn't look right to me. However, I have noticed this "stepped" look on some vintage Simpsons found on eBay. Regardless, I'd send it back.

I have noticed this too, but typically with what appear to be vintage brushes. I would guess that the step in the head is unlikely to affect the brush's performance, but it is odd enough in appearance that I'd send it back too.

    Cheers,
