Alternative Preparation of Puerh Leaves

I am experimenting with grinding puerh leaves to different degrees of fineness before brewing.

Any other brewing twists you have tried for tea?

Sounds like a recipe for a very bitter brew.

I'm pretty much a "put a chunk in the pot and let nature run its course" kind of guy, but I'll confess to just chucking a bing into the jacuzzi and hopping in when I'm feeling particularly lazy.
 
I was reading about a traditional tea preparation where "cakes" were ground into a powder and served. This is still done in some traditional areas (Tibet?)?

Were these "cakes" anything like our modern blended bings?
 
I bet MarshalN would know the answer to that one, given that it's within his field of research - you might consider dropping him a line :)
