What's new

What's the deal with Arden's Sandalwood?

I know it was discontinued, but now it appears to be easily available on (of all places) Amazon. One poster at Basenotes claims that it is not the "real" Sandalwood of auld.

So - is this still considered a quality (if inexpensive) sandalwood?

I don't know the deal but I just got some from Amazon for $13.67. I'm a huge sandalwood fan, so I figured, for that price, I'd give it a try.

It's kinda nice, though kinda synthetic. Somewhat dry and woodsy, but not even remotely close to a pure sandalwood. I don't really think it should even be called Sandalwood.

I vastly prefer AOS or, of course, Tam Dao (though they are 5-7X as expensive).

For the price, I don't regret the purchase.
