    Default Good Afternoon!

    Hi Folks,

I have been shaving with a Simpson Best Badger "Chubby" #2 for a couple of years now. I generally use Floris shave cream, but I also have a tub of Nancy Boy (don't knock it 'til you've tried it!) I use on a regular basis.

My wife recently bought me a Taylor of Old Bond Street travel brush of Super Badger. She is an excellent wife. (Today is our anniversary)

But until this week I have been using a Mach III for shaving.

I have ordered a Merkur 38c HD Classic Long Handle Barber Pole razor and a sampler pack of Derby, Feather, and Gillette blades. I am looking forward to trying these out.

I sometimes obsess with quality - I roast my own green coffee beans and have an Italian E60 grouphead espresso machine that I use daily. I bake bread (by hand - no bread machine here) every week. I have also recently started making my own sauerkraut. (it is unbelievably good. And it takes almost no work at all)

So I figure I had better get back to shaving the way my father did.

I have learned a lot on the board already, so I figured I would just pop up and introduce myself.

A warm welcome to B&B! I think you'll find several folks around these parts who appreciate Nancy Boy shave cream -- myself included! As for the coffee, this way to the cafe""!

Great coffee, and good shaves, sounds like an excellent combo!!

Of course when you can eventually progress to the point of Great coffee, and Great shaves, your life will be close to perfection.

Coffee question of the day: Starbucks or Seattle's Best Coffee??

Thanks for all the welcome messages. I will take photos and post them once I get my razor.

As to coffee, I have never had a Seattle's Best (I have not seen one in Houston) but I like Starbucks. That is heresy on the coffee boards I frequent, but I understand that B&B is much more civilized!

    Cheers!

Mmmm, homemade sauerkraut, might have to look into that.

Happy (belated) anniversary, Mine was yesterday too. My wife got me a tub of Proraso soap, some Real Shaving Company balm, and hot mask, some Aqua Velva balm, and a date this weekend scouring some semi-local antique shops for vintage gear.

Homemade saurkraut is the way to go! And it really couldn't be easier to do.

I'm sure my wife would buy me wonderful things if I didn't just run out and buy them for myself when the urge hit. She's excellent in her own way, but not fast enough on the draw when it comes to gifts. Maybe I need to be a better husband and "let" her buy me things?

Welcome aboard. I've only been here on the forum a short time myself, but have been wetshaving since the Ford administration. Even so, I've found some good info here!

Welcome! I, too, roast my own coffee. It really is a wonderful way to start the day...a nice traditional wet shave and some freshly roasted Sumatran coffee...pretty tough combo to beat.
