Anybody use the Afta aftershave lotion? The original formula. Looking for opinions. It seems awful inexpensive and if any good, should be worth a shot. Thanks.

Just curious if anyone has used this. I normally use an alcohol a/s but have toyed with using a more moisturizing "balm" Not too moisturizing as I have fairly oily skin, but something more than alcohol a/s. I like the inexpensive stuff. I've tried many of the more expensive and hard to get stuff, and for me, they don't do any better than the cheaper stuff. I guess I'm just "frugal" for the most part. I don't really need anything that soothes because I don't get much if any irritation. If any, it will be a slight itch during the day at times, which I suspect means possibly a little to dry.

John - I am not a big fan of the Afta scent plus its pretty strong for a balm. I do like the Nivea Sensitive Skin Aftershave Balm. It has a very nice light scent and it a good balm as well plus you can find it for around $5 at the local CVS.
You might also look into St. Charles Shave and QED. They both offer very reasonably priced aftershave balms in a variety of scents.
Every thing is worth a shot![]()
I tried it before when I was a goo user and I don’t think it was bad, try it you might like it.

Afta isn't too bad....its somewhat lacking as far as skincare qualities, but it does moisturize and soak in at a healthy clip.
However, I wasn't crazy about the smell (similar to Groom & Clean)....and prefer balms with more healing ingredients.
I think I may give it a shot. Seems every time I try a balm, it's either to greasy for my oily skin, or I put very little on to keep the grease down and don't see any good results from the product. My skin can't tolerate anything that's very oily at all. That's why alcohol a/s works so well for me. Maybe I should just stick to alcohol and smear some aloe or something similar on when needed.

John,
I have a similar problem. Can't do anything remotely oily, because my skin has a tendency to oiliness. But yet, it can also other get a touch dry in winter. (Itchiness long after your shave is a pretty darn likely sign of dry skin).
I have good luck with a combo. Splash Aqua Velva first. This is great stuff. Despite being alcohol based, it is actually moisterizing enough for me in summer. Then after than has had time to dry, the next time I happen by the bathroom, I apply a little of the Nivea mentioned above. It is great stuff for providing the moisture you need, within reason, while not being oily. Also, it is cheap, available at any drug store, and not unpleasantly scented, but very mild and fast fading, so that you will have no cologne conflict issues.

I just purchased this product and really like how it works and feels. I cannot stand greasy products on my skin.
