Are the handles on Black Handled Super Adjustables made of plastic or metal?

The last one I had, a '71 Long Handle, was definitely plastic.

I had read somewhere that they were made of plastic, but mine sure feels like metal. Even when I lightly tap it with a screwdriver it sounds like metal. Mine is the same material as my 68 Super Speed, another one I thought was plastic but feels like metal. Weird.

I think it's just a light coating of plastic over metal. I had a Black Handled SS that had some scrapes on it, and the metal showed through. The plastic was indeed quite thin.

They are a resin-coated aluminum.

Yes, mine was definitely metal

I just cut open a 1969 super adjustable and it was aluminum inside. Don't know about the later models.
