Why is it that we rate creams on their "Packaging" but not soaps?

Hmm... It's a good point that you bring up. Obviously, when a shaving cream is purchased, the container is scrutinized as it is likely the only container that it will ever see. With soaps, alot of choices exist for one's personal taste -- mug, scuttle, bowl/dish, etc.
I think there are a couple of things that could be rated:
o exterior packaging and wrapping like the actual box or cellophane wrap, and any other interior wrapping (like wax paper).
o presentation on the soap itself, like the name or a design ("Shaving" or the Fleur de Lis) pressed into the soap cake's top
I believe its due to creams being used in their packaging so the packaging becomes part of product. Whereas, soaps for the most part do not come in the packaging where they will be used. However, there are some exceptions like QED soaps.
