What's new

Lyric Tag

How about a game of "Lyric Tag"? Thought this might be fun. Rules are easy. Complete the lyric, and name the song and original artist. Then it's your turn. You can choose any genre, or era.

One note, as this is definitely not Google-proof, I'm sure you will all be comfortable within the confines of the honor system. After 24 hours, this will be lifted to keep the game moving.

I'll start things off with a relatively easy one:

In the beginning, back in 1955...

We're off!

Man didn't know about a rock-n-roll show, and all that jive..

AC/DC Let There Be Rock

What a shame, I ended up playing with myself!

I would have played along, but I didn't know the song the lyric was from (until I googled it).

Try us with a really easy one.

In the silver, blue and gold, the color of the sky I'm told...

I wanted to leave room for someone else to play, but since no one has taken it up yet . .

My rainbow is overdue.

Silver, Blue and Gold -- Bad Co.

Next up, more low hanging fruit:

"It's a hand me down, all the thoughts are broken . . . ."

Ripple by The Grateful Dead!

How about this easy one:

With you I never wonder - will you be there for me
With you I never wonder - you're the right one for me

Finally found the love, of a lifetime

Firehouse, Finally found the love of a lifetime.

This one should be easy

But when we got up on stage and got ready to play people came alive....

Sorry for the delay.

"And our friends are all aboard,
Many more of them live next door,
And the band begins to play..."

Here's a song that came out at around the same time:

Good sense, innocence, cripplin' mankind
Dead kings, many things I can't define
Occasions, persuasions clutter your mind
...

You got it! Yours was equally easy...

Strawberry Alarm Clock "Incense and Peppermints" Although I'm not sure how many 30 somethings would actually get that one.

Here is another:

Well known song though these are more obscure lyrics from that song:

Funky claude was running in and out
Pulling kids out the ground
When it all was over
We had to find another place

That is Deep Purple, Smoke on the Water.

Next is:

I don't know just where I'm going
But I'm gonna try for the kingdom, if I can
cause it makes me feel like I'm a man
When I put a spike into my vein

Lou Reed -- Heroin

I'll go ahead with the next one:

Did a vehicle come from somewhere out there
Just to land in the Andes?
Was it round, and did it have a motor
Or was it something different?

[HINT: This is a little more obscure than the previous songs.]
