    Default Deep Fryer Recommendations

I've been considering buying a deep fryer. I had one about five years ago, but it stopped working after about a year or so (I believe an internal switch failed) - so I've been a little hesitant about buying another.

In general, I liked the convenience, safety, and general cleanliness of a dedicated deep fryer. I also liked the deliciousness of properly cooked home-made fries (the Alton Brown double-fry method..)

Any brands in particular to look for, as well as must-have features?

I have a DeLonghi that I bought at Costco. I like it because it has a lid that is attached and has a filter built in so as to cut down on the amount of oil mess. It also has a small rubber tube with a fitting that allows you to drain the oil back into a bottle for cleaning. I know you can use oil more than once, and I do, I just like to be able to seal it, I think if you leave the oil in the fryer it smells up the house. I will try to find a link for it.

I have never used the Alton Brown double fry method. What I do is par fry them all, and then return them to the fryer for a final crisping. Is this the same concept?

I use my 7qt dutch oven for deep frying, but I've been tempted by those deep frying gizmos.

The double fried french fries are awesome. There is a Korean double fried chicken recipe that is also quite good.

I purchased a small Cecilware EL-15 table top, two basket, electric, stainless steel fryer. Simple and easy to clean. Oh, works great too.
I like rotor and propeller blades!

The propeller is just a big fan in front of the airplane to keep the pilot cool. Want proof? Make it stop; then watch the pilot break out into a sweat!

Dutch Oven + Heat + Oil + Thermometer = Wonderful Deep Fried Goodness

Seriously, all you need to make whatever you'd want, and a wonderful multi-tasking piece of cookware to boot.
