Soaking the brush

I have been looking for ways to save time and I was wondering whether you can just submerge the whole brush in the sink (mine sinks), rather than soaking the brush in a mug?

Will this harm the handle (my brush has a plastic handle)?

Does anyone do this?

That's what I do. I'm a newbie, but I don't see how it could hurt anything other than a wooden handle.

It will not hurt the brush unless the water is too hot. Burning hot water damages the epoxy or glue at the base of the brush and may cause a lot of shedding.

Yeah, as he said, as long as it's not in boiling hot water, it shouldn't matter. hot tap water should be safe.

Or if you bowl lather you just put the brush into the bowl/mug, and submerge both in a sink full of hot water.

Or just find an old coffee cup or something similar and wet your brush that way!

I just wet mine under the hot running tap water. I make sure it gets a good soak, but that works just fine and there's nothing to worry about.

I fill the sink with hot water (hot, but not so hot that i cant hold my hand underneath it) and drop my brush in

I soak my brush in an old shave mug in hot water, not boiling hot water.

Soaking should be fine with a plastic handle.
