    Default New de shaver

    Gentlemen, greetings-

I'm Tetractys, Mr. T for short. Thanks to Mantic59's YouTube vids, I've taken up shaving with a DE razor. After a week's practice, today I completed my first complete head and face shave using the tools listed in my signature- I'm quite happy with the results!

Anyone else here shave the head with a DE? Given the thickness of the hair and the general difficulty of the task, I wonder if I might do better with a different razor for the head, once I've eliminated operator error from the equation... I do love the 1904 for the face though!

I hope these greetings find you all well!

    Welcome to B&B!

I'm afraid I can't speak to head shaving. Nature is working on that for me, so I don't add any mechanical encouragement.

    Welcome!

I love it when a shave comes together.

I haven't tried shaving my head yet, but I would assume that after going to the barber for a buzz cut, a good fresh blade should be able to work through the remainder. I worry that I'd succumb to the temptation to bear down and end up nicking myself. Scalp cuts bleed like crazy.

I'm bald on top . . . to avoid the silly look of the few hairs left on top growing straight up I shave them off everyday. I found it a bit tricky to get the right blade angle and of course shaving spots I couldn't see in the mirror but my scalp is far less sensitive than my face so it never hurt.

I think the hardest part for me this morning was shaving the back of my head, getting that blade angle right, particularly around the external occipital protuberance *ooooh, aaaahhh* I expect more practice will sort that out.

I got the gift of baldness when I was about 17, or at least had a big bald spot on the crown by that time. As soon as I found out, I shaved my head, and have kept it either clean shaven or buzzed as close as possible ever since.

I used to use clippers at home, but now I'm back to the blade every other day. I was using a schick quattro for this, but alas, the blades cost as much as a car now. I'm very pleased that a DE works every bit as well, with better results. I can't believe what a difference a single blade makes. It does take a lot more time though, at the moment. Try it- feels good!
