    Question A New Desk Chair...

I'm looking for a new desk chair, I currently have one I bought a couple year's ago at Sam's Club. A very good chair for what I paid, but it's falling apart and it's not what I would call supportive. As addictive as this board is, I spend of time sitting at my computer and I was thinking for something that would provide more support and last for more than a couple of years. Any suggestions?

You didn't mention a budget, but in my experience it doesn't get much better than the Aeron Chair by Herman Miller.

I don't want to spend thousands, I don't have that to spend. But for a chair that is supportive and will last for years, I am willing to shell out a decent figure.

The Aeron is a grweat chair but I prefered the Allsteel #19. Here's a link.

It's not thousands but it is the better part of 1K.

    Great chair.
Is this chair really supportive, just with it's minimalist design it doesn't appear that it is. But just because it doesn't look supportive doesn't mean it's not.

Our chairs at work are about 5 years old and they are in use 24 /7.
The design is a bit different, however.
Ours have a movable lumbar support device these new models are missing...looks like they've improved on it some.
The mesh material is amazingly strong and breathes very well.
Many adjustible components ie: arms, height, swivel ....
No sweating in the chair and no odors from previous users.
I know they are pricey but well worth the dough. IMO

Yes--it is a very fine chair. But do also at least investigate the #19 and one other. The Aeron is frankly the chair by which all other desk chair have been judged as of late.

Also you might chest out a company called Bodybilt. Their chairs are extremely manipulatable in every way. Believe it or not, you want to move chair positions around during the course of a long day. Just finding one position leads to isolated muscle strain and tension. There is no chair that I know of which has more individualized options, ergodynamic choices, or position changes than Bodybilt.

I have used the Medium and Large Aeron chair and hate them (I have the large right now). The only good thing is that they don't get hot. My complaints list is MUCH longer and I hate that it's the best of the terrible options at work. I'd rather bring in my $70 Office Depot special from home, but am not allowed. Really. Sometimes I'm tempted just to sit on the floor.
