    Default FS Mergress

Up for sale is a Mergress. I purchased it on the B/S/T a while back from another member. It is in great shape and shaves great. I like the lighter weight Progress better so this one hasn't seen much use. I would like $45 shipped CONUS. Non-credit card paypal. If you have any questions please PM me.

I'm suprised it has lasted a half hour
"But if history teaches anything, it teaches that simple-minded appeasement or wishful thinking about our adversaries is folly. It means the betrayal of our past, the squandering of our freedom. So, I urge you to speak out against those who would place the United States in a position of military and moral inferiority." President Ronald Reagan

Hopefully not much longer that a half hour - PM Sent.

So my mergress came pretty quickly, and it was in mint condition. a real beauty! Tracy also shipped 2 packs of blades with it, and suggested I try the iridium blades (also included platinum.) I've been using Feathers exclusively for years, but figured I'd take the advice.
2 Shaves so far, and both absolutely terrific. Here's why: it's a heavy razor. i think the conversion from the Progress to the Mergress adds considerable weight to the razor, and therefore you should use pressure at your own risk!
Good hot water prep (I usually shave in the shower,) T&H pre-shave oil, and T&H Ultimate Comfort Shave Cream. With the iridium blade in the razor, and the dial cranked down to 1, I got a remarkably smooth shave, using no pressure at all. I took my time, guided it very carefully, and got a very smooth pass. Then I turned the dial up to 2 and made another downward pass. The third pass was just a bit of touch up here and there.
Remarkably smooth shave! enjoyed every moment of it. Following the shave, I rinsed with cold water, and then put on some Old Spice a/s splash. (if you've been careless with your shave, this will really let you know!) Results: a nice, pleasant tingle, no pain whatsoever. No irritation during the day, and I kept running my hand up to my neck to enjoy the smoothness.
Second shave: T&H pre-shave oil, Speick Shave Cream. Same routine as before, and again, a great shave. Followed up by Speick a/s splash, and again, just a delightfully comfortable feeling, no irritation whatsoever.
This razor truly demands that you simply let its own weight do the job--anything more and you could be talking serious injury. My conclusion: highly recommended. Indeed, I'd even recommend this for a learner's razor because the old adage of "use no pressure" was never more true, and with this razor, it's very easy to let the weight of the razor itself do all the work. Of course, the next blade I put in there will have to be a Feather, if for no reason than for control purposes, but I expect to continue to get great shaves.
Next shave will be with de Vergulde Hand shaving soap, and I'll follow it up with A/V splash. If my technique is off in the slightest, you'll hear my screams on the internet.
Thanks Tracy for making this fine razor available!

I am glad that you are enjoying the razor. I really enjoyed using it as well, it just wasn't getting used that often. Enjoy!!!!

As promised I used the Mergress with De Vergulde Hand soap. Usual prep, etc., and once again, an outstanding shave. I just cranked the numbers up on successive passes (yes, Iknow, it's counterintuitive, but it works,) and got a comfortable, smooth shave, letting the razor do the work. Again, this razor is heavier than most, so there's really no need to apply pressure, and I'd hate to think of what would happen if you did.
Following the shave came, as always, the real test of a good shave--a good dose of Aqua Velva After Shave splash. No burn, no sting, just a very pleasant, cooling sensation all over.
Again, highly recommend this razor. As it turns out, there's a colleague on B&B who has already offered to take this razor off my hands if/when I tire of it. Can't envision that right now, but one never knows. My next rotation will be either the Merkur Futur or Vision. Haven't used either of them in a while.

I'd be interested to know how this compares in weight to the Vision.
