    Default What is your vehicle?

I drive a couple cars each for a different pupose, and I love for a different reason. I think cars say alot about a person.

My daily driver is a 1966 Land Rover 2A 109 MOD Ambulance, but she is going into the barn to be made over as a overland camping vehicle. I love it because its rough, hard to drive, British and fixable with a rock, 1/2" wrench and a small length of wire. You got to love the engineer that put together a 70hp engine, a not syncro'd gear box and a 2.5 ton body.

My baby car since I am a Stay-at-Home-Dad is a 1981 Mercedes 240D manual. Its just a great car, shiny paint, everything is manual, great mpg, rides and drives great, a bit slow but its last everyman car MB built.

I like public transport and my bike too, but here in Hilo public transport is iffy at best and the rain/heat makes it hard for the 1 yo in bike trailer.

I am not really a car guy. My needs are simple:

4 wheel drive is a must around here
I need room for lots of kids = 3 rows
I want to fit a sheet of plywood in it

I have had a Honda Pilot for two years now and have been very pleased with it. Honda has never given me a major repair problem over many cars purchased from them.

Six pairs of Caterpillar shoes. I got my driving licence three years ago but I’ve never needed a car and I doubt I ever will.

07' Chevy Silverado - for road tripping, and daily commutes to work/gym/beach etc. (replaced 00' gmc sierra)
02' Chevy Camaro SS - the "Sunday drive" car (used on more than just Sunday )
57' Chevrolete Corvette - the ongoing project restoration (which has taken a backseat to bills, bills, and more bills)

And for the past 4 years, I've been on the constant search for a 66' Porche Speedster to work on, but the market for them is still too overpriced and I'm in no position to spend more money on luxuries. ESPECIALLY since I've found you all

I drive a lowly Ford Focus. I have very basic transportation needs, and need a cheap, low-maintenance car with good gas mileage that I can drive into the ground. So far, she's been fantastic.

I drive a 1996 Mercury Mystic for the same reasons. Saves money on gas and with my job thats great. However, the other car (my wifes) is Town and Country Minivan and I LOVE it. My friends laugh at me because they dont see how anyone can look cool in it. But heated leather seats, comfy ride and a lot more....It DONT MATTER.

I've always driven SUVs. They fit me. I drive very slow all the time, so a sportscar really isn't much use to me. My last one was a Ford Escape. I've also gone through a few Explorers as well.

I'm also in a 2005 Cherokee. I like to keep them a bit longer though. I buy on 3yr loans and keep the trucks for 5 or 6 years. Life without a car payment is truly sublime if feasible.
    Cheers,

    Current daily driver:
    1997 Ford Mustang V6
Every so often (at todays gas prices, almost never):
    1996 F-150 4x4 with 5.0L V8...it likes to drink gas....
In storage, in need of repairs: (but my former daily driver)
1971 Toyota FJ40 landcruiser (also 4x4) inline 6, 3 speed...not very fast but would climb a tree if I let it.

    2001 Ford F-150 V-6

Gets great gas mileage for a truck, but I can't tow any boats. But I don't have a boat.

    The smart ones do!

In all seriousness, Foci (yes!) were pretty popular rental cars back in the day (mine's an '01). That's apparently what mine was in a previous life. I picked it up for a steal with <10K miles on it.
