    Default Location of a honemaster

How dose a member find a honemaster in the Dallas Area?
Or is it best to just send you Straight razor of to someplace on line and get them back in 6 weeks.
I would really like to learn to do it myself.

Dig into the forum. There are lists of members who offer honing services, as well as instructional videos on doing it yourself. I hone my own razors, so I have no idea what turn around time is like. I would almost bet theat an urban area as large as Dallas has someone. You might start by asking someone who offers sharpening services....if they aren't doing razors, they likely know someone who is.

I would recommend getting your first straight honed by a pro that way you will know how sharp the razor should be and what it feels to shave with one that is correctly honed.

Look in the Members List and locate Ambrose. He lives in Texas and does honing and restoration work. Ambrose has a thread where he shares his projects with everyone. Here's the link. You can PM him to request his services. He's a real stand-up guy and well respected around here.

If you decide to send it out, you can't go wrong with Lynn Abrams. He is
The Honemaster. Round trip to Lynn's and back is usually about six business days for me, in Albuquerque. When Lynn hones them, they come back sharp and, perhaps more importantly, they stay sharp.
