Default A Good Bay Rum To Try?

What is a good Bay Rum for me to try? I haven't used any in years, but I think the last time I did it was Lustray brand.

Anybody remember Ernest Borgnine using Bay Rum in that TV movie "The Ghost of Flight 401" and his wife busting his chops for not using the "good smelling stuff" she bought him?

Ogallala Bay Rum...Limes and Peppercorns! Highy recommended by many on this site and pretty decent price to boot. To top it off, you'll get samples of his other scents!

I bought Limes and Peppercorns since that seemed the most popular and I like the lime scent

Funny y'all should mention that one, I got a sample of the OBR with some other stuff from Bull Goose, and it is pretty nice.

    Any other suggestions?

Some like Masters Bay Rum, available at Sally Beauty Supply.

Some like Pinaud Bay Rum (burns more, and is more clovey). Available at some drug stores.

I love Burt's Bees Aftershave Balm. My favorite Bay Rum scent of any product I've tried. It's around $12 and you have to order it direct from their website. Avoid their Bay Rum shaving soap though.

Ogallala is one of the best bay rums I've tried, hands down. Their whole line is great but I'm a huge fan of their Bay Rum and Sandalwood. Pull the trigger and buy a bottle. If you don't like it you can always offload in the BST, but I don't see why you would.

    So far I've liked

    Bigelow balm and cologne

    Pinaud splash

    Burt's Bees balm

Ogallala Balm and Aftershave (nice but fleeting)

I have a bottle of the Ogallala Bay Rum. I love the scent, but it seems to lack punch. They offer a "Special Reserve" that is double-strength. Had I known that, I would have gotten that version.

I enjoy my Royall Lyme Bay Rhum. It has the nice menthol feeling and the scent is not overpowering. But I have not tried any other Bay Rums so I cannot give any comparison to other brands.

    Hi All,

I've thought about ordering this sampler pack myself. Seems like it's got a nice selection and the price is right. I've never ordered from this site, but wouldn't hesitate to try this collection. No idea what the shipping would be.

    See what you think,

    Martin

+1 for both Master and Pinaud. YMMV, but on me the Masters is more pure bay scent, and although short-lived seems to regenerate when I break a sweat. It also includes glycerin, so it's a bit easier on your skin if you've had a rough shave. The Pinaud is more spicy, and if you like the burn, this will do it like no other Positively nuclear! It is rather long lasting (4 hours or so) on me as well

It's been a few years, but I was also partial to the Royall bay rum. It tended to be more of the spicy variety, and definitely a high-quality product.

I haven't tried any others, but if I could wave a magic wand (or perhaps bay laurel branch?), St John's, Dominica, and Ogallala would be the first 3 I'd try.

Can Dominica or Ogallala be had locally anywhere? I remember seeing Dominica at Restoration Hardware a year or so ago...
    Cheers-
