    Default Merkur Barber Pole Razor

I'm thinking of getting one of these. I have been shaving with a SuperSpeed for about a year and am thinking of a new razor. I think I want a razor with a bigger, longer handle and that is heavier. This seems to be all threee of those things. Anyone used one of these?

    Thanks.

I use one almost daily but mine is the all Nickel version.
Superb shavers, great weight and tough as a tiger tank.

No in blue, but it was the razor I bought to get me started. I love my 38C! You are right, it has a nice, long handle and a nice weight to it. It is fairly well regarded here and I concur that it is a nice razor.

I have a 38C and use it quite a bit. It does have some heft to it and it does have that nice long handle. This was the 2nd razor I purchased, and not the last

Anyway - I did finally pick up a Fatboy and have been using it and have come to appreciate the ability adjust the razor. So, for me I think I am going to pick up a Merkur adjustable razor. Now to decide on which one. Oh and I would like to try a slant, and did I say I am getting way too many razors?

I hear ya. I only have 1 and use disposables on my head, but I'm thinking after I get a new one, I'll use the SS and head only razor. The wife is also a little interested in a DE razor, so it looks like we will be having several razors in our bathroom as well.

I have a 38B and enjoy it greatly....although I don't have much other DE experience to compare it to. It can be a bit heavy at times but other than that it's fabulous. Get the B= Blue Handle.

I have used a number of DE razors. The 38C is a very good razor however, in my experience it is more aggressive than a super speed. At least on my face that's the case.

You could really step up and get a 39C. You'll never shave with anything else again and we'll have another convert to the Slanted side.

I've got a 39 c and the thing absolutely demolishes stubble. The heaft and length make it a pleasure to shave with...Think the Lincoln town car of razors.

I too am looking to get a BP once I offload my replacement Slant. The slant tears me up and I do not like the short handles.

I like my long handled Merkurs, currently rotating the new long handled Progress, the 38c and the 39c.

I'm really impressed by the new longer Progress, more aggressive than my
Progress or Mergress and gives me better results.

I went the other way - I have a 38c but changed to a super speed.
I just found it a bit too long to control properly.
The 38 is a bit more aggressive than the Super Speed IMO

The 38C has a great look and feel in the hand though.

I have the 38c, it was my first razor when I started DE shaving. Even though I have big hands I perfer the regulat size HD and use that most of the time along with my 1904.

I had a 38C (actually a 38R, as it had the red handle), and while it is a great razor, I found my vintage Superspeed to outperform it. I have since sold the 38R to a deserving newbie, as it sat unused on my shelf.

I still use it in my rotation, and I love it. For me, the heft gets me a closer shave a bit quicker than say a super speed. If you go with the Merkur, you won't regret it. If it were me though, I'd snag a slim over these...
