Is this the right case for this old single ring?

I just got this off da Bay. The box is beat up and is missing leather, there is only one blade case and that is damaged, and the razor is no museum piece, but...the ribbon is in nice condition and the latch works perfectly. Plus the printing is perfectly legible and it is the Times square version.

I've seen ribbon cases like this with the oldest Gillettes and my double ring needs a case!

But I'd like to know if this is this the right case for this single ring (#452463) and was this type of case ever used for a double ring razor? Not sure when Gillette switched to the diamond logo but it was after this case was made. Not sure of the year of the razor, either (have some research to do!).

While I am certainly no expert, I would venture a guess that it is the correct case, my single case and blade holders are identical to yours. The serial # is 469074, pretty close to yours. The inspection ticket is stamped Feb 05 1906, so I would think it is from 1906 or 1907.

Thanks David! The inspection ticket with this set has no date on it, unfortunately. This must be one of the very first single ring sets made.

I have been trying to piece together the chronology of the Single Ring cases and I believe your's is the 1st version as it was the case used on some of the Double Rings. After that came the Script case with the script written on black leather, then came the script written on satin and finally the familiar diamond logo. Of course Gillette may have mixed and matched somewhere along the way but I think I'm pretty close. I think your's is from the June-July period. I would love to find a set like it.

I am considering that option, problem is I have no idea of the value. Perhaps I should post better pics and maybe more knowledgeable gents could give me an idea of a price.
