If you're talking about the ones above, they are made from hexagonal stock. The current ones still have the flutes milled in them like the originals on the first page.

    Hi,

The knobs are not available separately, sorry. Only complete razors from Leesrazors.com or conversions done to existing razors by myself.

    Thanks,

    Eric

I just ordered a Mergress XL. Somebosy please me; I need to stop buying razors. I got into wetshaving to save money on blades but I can't stop buying damn razors. I have been at this for 30 days and have purchased a Furtur, Merkur 180 Long Handle, Feather Popular, Weishi Chrome TTO, AOS cream, AOS kit, TOBS cream, paraso cream, stands and brushes. How do you control it.

does the Mergress conversion include adjusting the blade exposure problem....i might have lined up a Progress, but the seller says it has 1 side more aggressive then the other.

    just wondering

I have been able to correct it sometimes but it's not a guarantee. The best bet is to get a Progress that you are happy with first and then send it for conversion.

    Thanks,

    Eric

thanks Eric...that's that what i was afraid of....since i have not seen the progress 1st hand, and the seller was honest enough to tell me about the problem with his, i think i'll have to pass on this conversion....

I've been wanting a Mergress for a long time. I've been hoping to find one on BS&T, but they go lightening fast. Been watching Lee's, but they have been out of stock. Checked back today and I see they have the XL I've been wanting so I just finished ordering it (and a couple of other things to go with it). Most I've ever paid for a DE. From all I've heard, it will be worth it and the new Mergress will be at the top of my rotation. Can't wait to get it....

My progress has some issues with alignment, when the lowest setting should start at 1 mine starts at around 3. Could this be fixed with the mergress upgrade, its a problem that would be nice to get taken care of? Thanks!

Eric, I just attempted to PM you in regards to a number alignment on a newly acquired Mergress XL and got a response that you're not accepting messages through the forum?

    TIA,

    Tony

    Hi Mer,

I read earlier on in this posting (about 32 pages ago) that you were offering Merkur Mergress for $80 USD. If that offer is still available, I'de like to order one please.

    Hi,

I don't offer complete razors any more, sorry. Complete Mergresses can be ordered from leesrazors.com.

    Thanks,

    Eric

Is the new machined part glued together?

I read that a few pages back and that was a huge turn-off for an otherwise fantastic upgrade.

    Hi,

Yes, the plastic knob is cut off and the new one is epoxied on. The existing number ring and "stem" assembly are still used allowing it to be calibrated like the original. If it were one machined piece there would be no easy way to calibrate a number scale.

    Thanks,

    Eric
