    Eric,

You might consider partnering with a merchant, such as QED or Lee's Razors, to produce the customized Progress for them to sell. One advantage is that you don't have to deal with each individual purchaser and the attention that each purchase involves, such as the the transaction (payment, banking, etc.), individual shipping in and out, emails, etc. It might seem that this approach is more involved in the commercial aspect than you want to get, but it seems that it would be much less time consuming with much less effort. Also, from our end -- the users or purchasers -- the merchant would be in a much better position to sell the customized Progress a lower price than if we bought one and had you modify it.

    JP,

I was going to but the numbers are not stamped as cleanly or as deep as the dots. A couple of them are so shallow in spots that the paint would just flow over and when I did the cleaning wipe it would disappear. I haven't actually shaved with it yet so I can't comment on turning the knob with wet hands.

    Dave T,

I was in contact with Lee last night. I wanted to talk to him about shipping a customers order directly to me for modification. Some companies only ship to the billing address to avoid fraudulent purchases. There are a lot of possibilities to consider.

    Thanks,

    Eric

Thanks everyone for the orders to date.

Bob, I'll take a photo of my lathe this weekend and post it.

    Hi Mer,

I'd like to order a new progress w/ a shiny stainless knob.

Can you let me know how to proceed?

    Thanks,

What about doing a core return type of thing. The buyer sends you the money that would cover a new razor and your modification. Upon receiving your modified razor they send back their unmodified razor, and you can refund the razor portion of their purchase upon receiving it.

    Hi Sparky,

So would they be sending back a new or used razor for credit?

Eric - don't forget to post your lathe pics. Also, I received my Progress and I will probably pull the trigger on your mod after the holidays!

    Here's my lathe.

    It's a Homier 7 x 14 that I've customized a little.

I do have a Progress in stock if someone wants to buy a completed razor.

    Let me know,

    Eric

I've had my progress for about a month now and love it, Eric's work is incredible. The razor (the knob) looks like a stock item-go for it you wont be sorry.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get my pictures on here so I can show everyone.

That is absolutely gorgeous!! And I thought that I was done getting DE's. Never wanted the progress because of the plastic knob.

A couple of Q's. can we customize the color of the dots? I was thinking of having a different color for each setting, with blue for the gentle side and red for the aggressive side of the house, really not sure though, just sharing a bit of my thoughts.

And I was also wondering if it was slick and hard to turn if your hands are wet. Not that this would prevent me from getting one.

Have a birthday in a couple of months. please tell me you'll still be doing this then.

    Thank You Bob,

I can put any color in the dots you want just let me know. It could be a green - yellow - red progression like a stop light or whatever you think.

I do not use a Progress but did test it with wet hands and did not have a problem.

I just ordered some stainless and brass hexagonal stock that I'm going to try. The brass will be polished with a lacquer finish to prevent tarnish. I'll post some photos when I have a couple finished. I've always liked two tone gold/silver combinations.

I'll be making these as long as there is a demand so don't worry.

    Thanks,

    Eric
