Default Scuba Divers - post your pics!

Awhile back, Saint Sue suggested I post a dive related thread since I'm obviously into the sport...I thought, not a bad idea!

I'm curious to hear how many divers we have on the forum and where you've been. I've had my fair share of great dives at great locations...so I'll start off...

Here is a pic of me diving the U.S.S. Oriskany in Pensacola Florida back in 2008. Its a GREAT dive on the world's largest artificial reef. The flight deck sits at 135' of water. Most recreational divers hit the deck (or somewhere higher up) and then do an easy dive around the tower. Its extremely easy to penetrate the tower and do a wreck dive without fear of getting entangled etc. and you are always in full view of an exit. Probably one of the coolest dives I've done in a little over 10 years of being in the sport.

They even have a neat POW flag (shown below) that is extended off the tower!

Now...lets see your dives! (I must say...I was disapointed there was no scuba smiley face...all I could find was a friggin boat!)

Great photos Chris! My son and his gf have been many places on dive vacations and I love looking at their photos with coral and salt water fish. They've only encountered a shark once.

I hope there are others here that enjoy diving and will post photos.

I'm a diver but haven't been diving in years (since my h.s. years) and none of my photos are digital. I want to go again soon but would have to update my PADI card and rent some equipment.
Ahead lie many fantastic shaves & AD's...But by appreciating #1, you justify #2!

I have not been diving at all this year. I haveall of my own equipment and was on a Search & Rescue Dive Team. The best thing about the dive team was lots of training, which means lots of down time.

I did a couple of shipwreck dives just east of the Oriskany in 2008. It was really cool (100'). I want to go back to the Oriskany at some point. However, I just had a great idea. What if we did a B&B Scuba trip. Maybe go to the Flower Gardens off of the coast of Texas, or maybe a trip to Cozumel or something. What do you guys think? BTW, I own everything I need, save an underwater camera. Only buddies of mine have pics of me diving

I have not done any wreck diving but I have done some cavern diving that was technically rated for open water.

I got my PADI certification about 25 years ago but haven't been diving in 20 years, so I guess I'm not a diver anymore. :( I loved it, went diving in Jamaica, Hawaii, the Persian Gulf and off the coast of Sardegna, but the pics all remained with that boyfriend! Had my run in with a shark, but that was when I was snorkeling, not diving.

Yeah, I can't recall the shop that set it up for us. My buddy is a PADI instructor/travel agent (those guys always have something to sell or a way to make money), but he set it up. I know we dove off of Panama City Beach where a jetty fell, but I'm thinking the wrecks that we dove were of of Fort Walton Beach or near there. It was really fun. I've been told that my buddy has a connection with one of the captains that charters trips to the flower gardens. That would be fun from what I hear. However, I'm always up for a trip to Cozumel

I 'Googled' Oriskany. That looks fascinating. I think I may be a scuba wanna be.

If you're interested in out of country, Roatan has great prices on all inclusive (room, rood, drinks and diving) week packages.

Only place I've been diving out of the country so far was the Maldives in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Couldn't have afforded it if I wasn't already stationed in Germany and even then...it wasn't cheap. But well worth the experience.

My wife and I got to our atoll via seaplane...dont get to do that very often! Then, we rented a bungalow on the water. From there it was scuba dive galore. No wrecks...I'm really interested in wreck diving, but more reefs than you can shake a stick at. I'll post pics here in a little while.

Highly recommended if anyone is looking for that "once in a lifetime" trip!

Aw, I have no pics of me, due mostly to diving coldwater in crappy vis. But I've been diving for about 4 years.

    Great pic Tacheless!

Underwater cave I assume? How deep were you at this point? That is a great pic of the rock formation behind you! I once did a dive in Maui at a site called "5 caves" where you swim back under a series of air pockets to a huge one where you can pop out the regulator and talk etc. Had a bit of ears popping as I recall, but otherwise a good time!
