Buying advice

I'm looking to get a badger brush. Currently, I have an Omega Boar brush that I plan to use for soaps. I primarily use creams (currently Mr. Taylor). I think that I'm going to skip the intro level boar brush because I'm not really looking to start a collection, I just want 1 good one that I can use almost every day.

I'm looking for something soft, but with backbone, and a quality handle. I would like as big a knot as possible, but quality of the hair is more important to me. I would like to keep it under $175. Any suggestions?

The Rooney Heritage line has soft hair and are very dense. The handles
are nice on them too.

I'm thinking--I don't own one, but from what I've read--that a larger Saville Row from QED would be a good fit. Look under their "other fabulous toiletries" section. A larger Shavemac might also fit your bill (I do own a 23mm Shavemac, but you can get larger, too). The Shavemacs are soft (completely), yet with a fair amount of backbone; I hear comparable reports (some would say "better") on the SR brushes. Check those reviews and see if either might be a good fit.

My first good bush was a 23mm silvertip Shavemac and it was a very good brush for the price. I used moslty creams then and the bush performed very well with them. I don't use it much anymore though because I discoverd I like the ultra backbone found in the Rooney finest.
