I got the most amazing blast of pure lilac scent after applying the notorious PLV this morning. Awesome. It's never been this good. What a strange, magical potion.
Viva Vegetal..

I'm not going to post anything. Instead, I'm going to grab my bottle of LV and splash some on. Then I'm simply going to close my eyes and imagine myself in a grove of lilacs. Rotting lilacs, yes, but lilacs all the same. Ah...
Anyone here ever really stuck their face in a bunch of fresh lilacs? my mom had cut a bouquet and put it in their dining room last time I was there. Whenever I would walk past I would get this WHOOSH. Wow. Maybe it's that some guys here don't know what real lilac smells like. It's very potent stuff! It is very organic, in a strange way. Quite different than your roses or other more "pretty" smelling flowers.

My grandma smelled like lilacs...![]()
Man, I wish I could find a bottle of Vegetal like the stuff you guys are using. There are so many here praising the Lilac, but the bottle I bought from Walgreens and the sample I got from Clubman online must have turned, 'cause to me, both still have that baby powdered pissy diaper scent.
I feel bad not being able to appreciate the Veg.![]()
Read this on Basenotes from someone named Hyperwarp, a review of Lilac Vegetal:
Quote: "If you've never tried it, lemme tell 'ya when you first splash it on, it STINKS to HIGH HEAVEN, like the miasma from a newly "stewing" compost heap wafting from your flesh. I reckon this is the "Vegetal" part of the name.
After about 2 or 3 minutes it dries down to a lovely (imho) "powdery lilac" which last a long, long time. Very subtle & masculine, but also old, very old, like 200 years old.
Maybe, I love this oleur because when I was a young kid (long ago and far away) this was the scent morticians splashed on dead men for "viewing times"....yes the scent of death on display....try it out...IF YOU DARE."
An amusing review.
I'm going to have to try this. I have lilac bushes outside my bedroom. They have a lovely scent, but I never considered putting it on my face. It seems to be a love-hate kind of thing.

I now have become obsessed with the veg.
After work today, I stopped at one of three Walgreens stores that are within spitting distance of my house, determined to try a new jug of Lilac Vegetal.
Walgreens #1 was sold out.
I drove to the second Walgreens. They were out too!
So on I traveled to Number 3. I walked to the shaving supplies isle and bingo! A 12 ounce bottle awaited me. The only bottle in 5 square miles. I snatched it up and looked closely. The bottle appeared brand spankin' new, with a very tightly sealed cap and not one speck of dust lay upon it. I clutched my prize tightly as I strode to the cashier's counter. After giving the portly young woman behind the counter my $5.99 plus sales tax, I exited the store wondering which genie is hiding in the bottle. Would it be the baby powdered, pissy-diapered one, the same one that was in the larger, dust covered bottle that I had purchased several months back? Or would this genie be the gentle, flowery yet masculine scent that wafted through the court of Napoleon III, the same scent that many here praise.
I returned home with my treasure, took my Leatherman multipurpose knife from it's sheath and cut off the white seal that imprisioned the green cap to it's bottle. My fingers twisted the cap from the top. I brought the opening of the bottle to within inch of my nose, sniffed at the genie inside, and................
Oops, it's bedtime, gotta' go.
I'll take the Master's thanks. I dislike the Pinaud product- the two bottles I tried could literally have been two different (terrible) scents they had so little in common. Although some recent posts about leaving the cap off the Pinaud bottles for a week or two if they are skunky is interesting... I smell a purchase in my future...
I couldn't even find LV when I looked for it.
It's not cheap either if there is a risk it won't get used.
I still want to find some though dangit! :lol;
My name is Chris but you can call me "subtle as a train wreck."
