Default Is This a "Gold Special" NEW ?

I scored this today in an antique store for twelve bucks. I recognized the NEW head, but I'm not sure what exact model it is.

Consulting Mr. Razor's site, it looks like it could be a Somerset, a "Gold Special" or a "Blue Gold" possibly as they all look the same to me.

It came with a neat old non-Gillette case, too.

Much of the plating is worn off the handle and top plate, but the head proper where the teeth are is still yellow and shiny. Despite the cosmetic wear to the finish, this should make a very nice shaver and I'm delighted to have found it.

You will probably never know what model it was originally. This razor is common in the New line and it all depends on which case it was mated to originally. It could be 6, 7, 10 or more. But in any case this is a wonderful shaver.

This is known as a Common Bar Handle NEW which was sold in several different versions like the Gold Special, Blue-Gold Special, Red and Black Set, and Bostonian. Great shaver, by the way.

Thanks, Len. I think I get it now. I can't wait to try it out. I shaved with a much more worse for wear Good Will this morning.

Can't imagine how nice this one will be.

Also looks like this was the Long Comb version vs the Short Comb.
