    Default blunt straight

i have a straight that i got from a carboot for £2 its nothing special but id like to be able to use it, its completely blunt, no chips but i can slide my finger up and down the edge with reasobnable pressure and not get so much as a scratch, is it possible to sharpen back to a useable edge with the usual honing techniques?

im just in the process of polishing the pitting and rust out aswell as maybe a few handle shape changes so its in the shed at the moment but ill post pictures the next time i go down there, im not at home atm. im using this straight as a cheap intro into restoring/customising/making i have done a little knife making in the past so im not entirely new to this but any tips would be good.

Have you honed a razor before?

    What hones do you have?

Sounds like you will need to go really low in grit.
Most people will gasp, but by the sounds of it id get it onto my 325 grit DMT.
Go nuts until it passes the TPT (Bits evenly into your nail when you draw it accross it, doesnt just slide across).
    Then up from their.
