Alden #8 LHS
I think I have another pair of Aldens ready to go in for a overhaul. Maybe in the spring.
Man, those are gonna look great after they are overhauled. Looking forward to "after pictures".
It's just that kinda day....
The journey continues.... :scooter:
 That's just not true (as far as you know).
16,000 miles in less than 15 months. Not too bad.
The elusive Ravello. One year later after a recent polishing.
Thanks, Bob. Both are shell. And yes, I did a bit of bulling on the Medallions. :yesnod:
Polished a couple pairs of Aldens while watching some college basketball.
Hello Gents, The Rover is still in my regular rotation and still one of my faves. Don't worry about the shedding Bob, it will settle down. Nice seeing the pics of the original Rovers. Good stuff....
The real distinction between the two, that I am able to discern, is if you want a quicker turnaround then B. Nelson is the place for you. If you want original factory along with original shoe box and...
Thanks for all the soap offers. I've said it before and I'll say it again... The people here at B&B are the best. :thumbup1:
As for the soap, I'm good with the one (for now.)
For the first time since joining B&B, I now own one single solitary puck of shaving soap. After finishing a puck of DR Harris Windsor I actually had no shaving soap in my house whatsoever. I was...
Thanks for the update. Although it appears that Alden was forthright in their assessment I think the $150 spent on a B. Nelson restoration was money well-spent as they still look great. Nothing...
I had my first colonoscopy done last year. 4 polyps removed. When I went into the room to have the procedure performed the doctor had on the song "Homework" by the J. Geils Band from their awesome...
Those LHS loafers look great. I am curious as to why Alden refused to refurbish them. Would you mind elaborating?
- I was dragged through ten hours of torturous mall shopping.
- I was also heckled dozens of times for getting a “makeover” despite promises to the contrary.
Sounds like you we went...
You should really thank Mrs. Gold. It was her words that inspired me when she looked at me and said:
"Keep collecting those shaving soaps and see what happens." :whistling:
It was the new formulation. Nothing wrong with that. Great performer.
AoS Sandalwood 11/14/2014 to 1/25/2015
I thoroughly enjoyed that. :yesnod:
Next I will finish up a tube of Speick leftover from Speicktember.
Oh my. 5 years, over 500 pages and over 10,000 posts. Who knew?
Ever since utilizing the 3017 method, I have come to apply the 3017 method towards other things as well.
I am currently...
Words to live by. :yesnod:
Thanks Ben. I wear a 9E in Barrie so I taking into the consideration your assessment that the Marlow runs a bit narrower. I'm thinking 9.5D may be the way to go for the Marlow.
How do these shoes compare to the Barrie last? These definitely need to be in my collection. (one day )
Gents, some great looking shoes there.
The following is an excerpt from a styleforum post regarding the same topic.
"That said, "toasted" or "chili" edge is the same and seems to be closest to Alden's "antique" edge. I, and others...
Congrats to the winner. Nicely done, bruce. :badger:
It was touch and go there for a while.
Certainly a matter of taste but I wouldn't argue against that selection. :thumbup1:
i have not worn them enough to warrant...
You'll get no argument from me... :thumbup1:
I hate to admit that you're right but this was the sign after I left the shoe repair shop yesterday. :bored:
Trust me, that was the hardest $5 that cobbler made all day. I wanted to see how he lined up the holes and what he was going to use to punch through the leather. While he was working on the shoes, I...
This chukka is made with two eyelets. It just didn't provide the snug fit that I prefer so I took them to a shoe repair place and added another eyelet. Now the shoe feels more secure and...
I have been wanting a pair of these khakis for quite some time. They recently did a Kickstarter sale but I missed out on it. Anyway, I just purchased a pair of their stone-colored khakis so I will...
I have marked December 5th on my calendar.
Since we are being pedantic, I think the OP was stating that the shoes were made in the tradition of Alden and the fine British shoe-making tradition.
But then again, I could be wrong.
Still sailing along with the AoS Sandalwood. Tallow or not, this is an excellent soap.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all. How many of you will attempt to 3017 a turkey today?
