Glad you are enjoying your new open comb. The only problem with open comb razors is that once you get used to them, it is really hard to go back to safety bar razors. Trust me - I speak from...
Sweet, love the looks of the metal one.
Awww - RAD raises its ugly head. I've been fighting it hard for months now. Keep telling myself that I don't really need another razor or brush. But - the urge is still there to check out WCS or...
Agree - give it to him first, then borrow it later to try it out and see if you like it also.
Never mind - didn't read page 2 - nice looking razor.
Is your name Sheldon? <G> just kidding. Yeah-does seem a little overkill to me too. I just rinse off after shaving and gently wipe outside surfaces dry. Will give it a good cleaning when I change...
Pasanova - you have had the ritual blood letting and are now an official wet shaver. I had my razor on the counter while cleaning up and when I reached for it the darn thing literally jumped up and...
Nice. Start em out young and hook em early.
Definitely suggest try a different blade. I tried a Red in my Gillette Redtip today and it tore my neck up. But, when I use Astra SP's I get pretty close to a BBS every time. Some razors just work...
I have both, and find that the 15c (my shower shaver <G>) is a lot milder than the 11c which I find a little on the aggressive side. From the feel, the 11c is basically an open comb version of my HD...
Tried the cold water shave a couple of times - didn't work for me. My beard needs the heat to soften it up. I usually heat water in a tea-kettle and then pour it in my bowl that I soak brush and...
That looks like a great usable lather. Now, apply to face, face-lather in briskly and go to town. Looks like ya got the knack so enjoy ur shaves.
Actually, you may be right. The expression "familiarity breeds contempt" could possibly apply here. I've found myself rushing when I use the same razor for a long time. It becomes sort of an "old...
HOLLYWOOD TYPE GUY:" Oh man, been partying for 3 days and don't have time to shave before this event.. oh well, guess I'll have to go looking scruffy."
HOLLYWOOD SHEEP: OOOHHH Look - Hollywood guy...
Well, after rubbing the stubble, when he faceturbates afterward he'll have a comparison<G>. Still enjoying wetshaving after 45+ yrs. But enjoying it a lot more now that I have this group to "feed the...
When the stars and planets align just right - - been known to get a BBS with almost no effort. I think a lot has to do with skin condition too. I find that if I'm properly hydrated enough my skin...
Around 15. Gillette SS and a can of GIllette Goo. Lots of nicks at first but I eventually got better when I learned not to hurry. I think that was back in 1964/65.
RAD - RAD,,BWAAAHAAAAAAAA - I have to fight it on a daily basis (literally). Lets not forget that it also leads to SBAD - which at times can be even worse. Don't let these guys fool you, they all...
Loved it. Very entertaining and informative at the same time. Really like the 50's style black&white effect. Reminded me of some of the "health" videos I had to watch in the Navy before I went...
I hope you didn't tell her about the ceramonial blood letting and secret handshake....
Dang-it, I was gonna say that <G>. Yep Astra Sp....:thumbup:
Merkur 15c open comb is pretty mild (its the one I use in the shower when I'm running late). Love my Merkure 11c but they are getting extremely scarce. I hear that the Gillette NEW OC is good and...
Great scores there. Be sure to give us an update after cleaning and let us know how they shave. KUDOS...
What year Aristocrat? Mine is just sitting in its case after I discovered Open Comb razors (Merkur 11c and 15c). Just may have to dig it out and give it another whirl.
Yeah. same here. Would look nice on my 15c
Hmmm - this again...... well, lets see
Merkur 11c razor
razorock classic shave croap
Somoque 1305 brush
no aftershave - just splash on a little coconut milk <G>
Ironfistr - tell me that that is not shave related...please. AOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW
Aristocrat or maybe even the Gillette Red-Tip would be a good choice. Fair warning though, Like potato chips, ya can't have just one....So watch out for the dreaded RAD <G>. We've all got it , so,...
I'd suggest try a different blade. Astra SPs or something like that. See if that makes a difference. My pre-shave routine usually consists of just a liberal splashing/soaking with hot water and...
hmmmm - dunno. Never heard of that. I really don't think the steel cares one way or another as the rinsing just removes the shaving goo and hair that has been removed from face. Anyone?????
Thanks
Why is the bottom plate on the 3 piece upside down??? <G>
Very nice. I'm sure you will enjoy it. Might have to see if I can find one of those for myself. I've become pretty much an open comb only shaver. Looks to be in excellent condition.
The ribs inside the bowl look like they would be great for whipping up a nice lather. I too face lather so only thing I use a bowl for is hot water for my brush but those bowls will probably turn a...
Great story. Spreading the addiction around <G>. I gave my son (used to be a mach 3 shaver) one of my Gillette razors, some Astra SP blades, a Tweezerman badger brush and a tub of Razorock Classic....
HAHAHAHA - that must be it - paint chips. All he needed to do was soak the can in boiling water on the stove <G>. Wonder how long it took him to clean up all that lather good all over his kitchen...
Its going to be somewhat humid there, so something cool and maybe menthol for shaving cream/soap. I like the Aqua Velva AS. Feels good on the face. Thats what I used primarily when I was stationed on...
I'd create a laser shaver and a 4 armed gorgeous blonde to shave me twice a day with it (whether need a shave or not)......As long as we are dreaming here <G>.
WoooWhooooo. 500th post on that last one <G>
There are times when I'm running a little late with my routine (cuz I was on puter reading B&B) and have to quick shave. Usually just go for beard reduction but sometimes it does come out DFS or BBS....
Love the Astra SP's. They work great in all my razors (especially the open-combs). Just ordered another 100 couple weeks ago. Gotta stock up ya know. Enjoy
