Have you considered boar? For precision face-lathering, the Semogue 610 & 620 are about the perfect size (for my face). Bullgoose has the 620 in stock.

My first brush was a Classic Shaving Super Badger brush. It was a very nice brush for three months. The autopsy was not pretty.
