Having read this I am thrilled that I have the Untamed version. Sometimes I angle it to give it that "slant" effect.
Never a drop of blood.

Never a drop of blood.
I love Cella. Sometimes I mix in a small amount of Proraso Sandalwood cream. Very nice winter shave.
My current collection. I have since added a Wee Scott and an Omega Bambino.
I believe it is indeed a question of technique. This razor requires a slick lather, a sharp blade (I use Feathers), a light touch (a relaxed grip on the razor helps), and the right angle of attack. I...
Yes, the Hoffritz razors were made by Merkur. I still use the Progress razor I purchased in New York in 1979.
I would be most interested in a Muhle R41 slant. Sometimes I angle my R41 to give it...
I am in the "prescription bottle" school. In the photos of my travel shave kit below, you will see a Rooney 1-1 in Silvertip. It has now been replaced by a Wee Scott in a smaller bottle.
Thater makes a beautiful brush.
Just buy one.
My Dad's 1953 Gillette Tech.
I have not tried a Shavemac yet, but I can certainly recommend the Thaeter brushes. They are also beautifully made.
The magnificent Thaeter 4376-6
My Polo 8 with two band is one of my favourite brushes. It is excellent for both bowl and face lathering.
My brush is posing on a Boehm Stirling Engine. It is an air powered engine. Very cool.
The Musgo soaps are designed as pre-shave soaps. After your shower, wash your face with Musgo soap before applying lather.
I have three fabulous Thaeter brushes in my rotation.
I love both my Muhle r89 and r41 (new version).
They are gorgeous razors that both shave superbly.
Some find the handles too slippery.
I simply dry my fingers on a small towel and keep the...
I love my Simpson Polo 8 in two band. Nice long handle for bowl lathering.
Here are two Thaeter's from my brush collection.
They are both large and are excellent for bowl lathering.
The combination of softness with just enough backbone is perfect.
You have a fine collection, and you photographed the razors beautifully.
I have two vintage razors in my collection: my father's 1953 Tech, and his 1964 Slim.
I found the Tech in its original...
Here is my collection for now. In addition to the brushes shown below, I can add a Wee Scott which has not yet been photographed.
Its beautiful. I have the Muhle version and its a great shaver.
I carry my shaving gear in a small zippered bag I bought at Home Depot. This bag fits into my regular toiletry bag, thus my shaving equipment is kept all together.
Below you will see the contents...
I have three Thater brushes in my collection. I present the 4292/6, 4376/6 and the ebony.
The ebony in the photos developed a small crack at the top. Thater handled the problem perfectly: I sent...
A pretty pair of Thaters.
Glad you persisted. The R41 is an outstanding razor. Its also very pretty.
I think that some razors require some time before they reveal their full potential.
Two examples are the Feather and the R41.
In my opinion both of these razors require a unique shaving angle....
This sounds like a very good travel kit.
If weight and space saving are a consideration I would suggest taking either the alum block or the witch hazel as their purposes are somewhat duplicated....
Some razors require some regular use and practice to use to their potential.
The R41 is a fabulous razor. Normally I alternate between it and the Feather. My other razors are used only when the...
I have the Feather but not the Ikon. I will second all the positive comments about the Feather. In my view, if you use a very sharp blade (I use Feathers) and find the correct angle, the Feather...
Thanks very much. I am not sure what Q-Branch is.
FYI the brass razor blade container was my dad's. It dates from the late 50's or early 60's. I like taking something of his when I travel.
I am...
I do not have the Weber, but I am very happy with my Muhle razors. I have both the 89 and the new 41.
They may not be stainless steel, but they are beautifully made with some of the finest...
When I put my travel shave kit together I wanted to ensure no-compromise shaves.
I assembled a small kit that fits into a small zippered bag that clips to or fits in my dopp kit.
My kit...
I love my R41. I can easily get a very good shave with two wtg passes and a bit of touch up.
I suggest that you think of this razor as a straight. A relaxed grip will help minimize the pressure...
Years ago Noxzema made a shave cream in a tube. I used it regularly with my brush it was excellent. I find Proraso to be even better though.
My condolences to you on your loss. May his memory be for blessing.
I recommend the Rx bottle. It is light, virtually destruction-proof and protects a proper fitting brush perfectly.
My brush is a Rooney 1-1 which a small and luxurious silvertip.
I am very happy with my Rooney 1-1.
For me it is a little small for daily shaving, but it is an integral part of my travel shaving kit.
My Brushes:
I am waiting for the soap. In the meantime I will continue to enjoy my Arlington and Marlbourough
Exactly correct!
When I set up in the hotel bathroom I use the medicine bottle (brush container) to hold my assembled razor and toothbrush.
Initially I used a tub of Cella (see pic), but now I...
You may wish to take a look at the Feather All Stainless. It is a fabulous razor with a longer handle.
